The Egbema Youth Political Forum has urged the youth and residents of various communities within Egbema Kingdom in Warri North L.G.A, Delta State to come together and participate in the upcoming Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) fresh electoral wards and units delineation exercise scheduled for Tuesday 9th to Wednesday 10th July, 2024.
The group's statement, released on Monday in Warri and signed by Barr Ebigbagha Stephen Baidi, Chairman; Comrade Karina E. Yoroki, Secretary, and Ebiterigha D. Ejemi, Spokesman, emphasized the importance of active involvement in the exercise.
It was stated that the call is essential as the exercise is anticipated to reach all Communities, necessitating the presence of the locals from the different Communities and villages.
We once again urge the vibrant youth of Egbema Kingdom to view this activity as a pivotal moment for our beloved Kingdom, and to demonstrate to the world that our communities are more densely populated than what is reflected in the INEC records.
The Supreme Court, the highest court in the country, issued a ruling on Friday, December 2, 2022 in Appeal No.: S/413/2016: Hon. George Timinimi & 9 Ors v INEC. The court ordered INEC to conduct a fresh delineation exercise of all electoral wards and units in the Warri Federal constituency, which includes Warri North, Warri South, and Warri South West LGAs, before any future elections in the State. Additionally, Denbo-Denbofa Oweikpodor, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, Arc Sylvester Adowei, Emmanuel Igetei, and Midwest Kukuru Esq have filed a lawsuit in the Federal High Court, Asaba.
They are seeking an injunction to prevent the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) from holding the Delta State Local Government election in Warri South, Warri South-West, and Warri North Local Government Areas on July 13, 2024, until after the Supreme Court's judgment is enforced.
The plaintiffs, representing themselves and the Ijaw people of Warri North, Warri South, and Warri South-West LGAs of Warri Federal Constituency of Delta State, filed suit no: FHC/ASB/CS/87/2024, seeking a declaration that the 2nd defendant (INEC) in the state is not authorized to conduct Local Government Council elections in Warri North, Warri South,

without first establishing fresh polling units in compliance with the judgment of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in Appeal No. S/413/2016; Hon. George U. Timinimi & 9 Ors v. INEC deliveredon 2/12/2022.
