The arrest of two notorious terrorists was made by troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and
Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke after a fierce shootout at Geshi Village in Damisa Ward of Donga
Local Government Area, Taraba State. This information was disclosed by Lieutenant Oni Olubodunde,
the Acting Assistant Director of the 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, in a statement released on Sunday.
The operation, which occurred on July 11, also resulted in the recovery of two motorcycles that were used by
the criminals. According to Olubodunde, the troops deployed in Akate in Donga Local Government Area conducted
the operation based on intelligence reports indicating an imminent attack by armed terrorists in Geshi
Village.
Based on this intelligence, the military quickly deployed to the location and confronted the armed
individuals in a intense firefight, eventually defeating the terrorists with greater firepower and
apprehending them, causing the criminals to scatter into the wilderness with gunshot injuries.
It was reported that two injured terrorists were captured as they attempted to flee on motorcycles,
which were subsequently confiscated.
The report mentioned that the detained individuals are currently being questioned.
It was further reported that soldiers from Headquarters 6 Brigade,
during their regular patrol in the Jalingo metropolis, discovered a
nine-year-old student named Dorothy Kwatsumen wandering in her school
attire in the Gongomaliki area of Yorro LGA in Taraba State
.
The initial search for her school and family proved to be unsuccessful,
leading to her being brought to the Brigade headquarters for safekeeping until her parents could be found.
Subsequently, it was revealed that she was actually a student at Glory Children Academy.
Upon reaching the school, troops spoke with the headteacher
who mentioned that they had been looking for her for approximately
24 hours and had already notified the Jalingo Police Division.
