Oyebamiji: I expect to win Osun election
Bola Oyebamiji, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Osun governorship election, says he is confident of emerging victorious at the poll.
Oyebamiji spoke after casting his ballot at about 10:42am at Ward 09, Unit 011, in Ikire, Irewole LGA of the state.
The APC candidate said the election had been peaceful so far, based on reports reaching him from across the state.
“From the reports I have gotten so far, everywhere is peaceful, and we hope it will continue like this,” he said.
I expect that I am going to have the victory at the end of the day.”
Oyebamiji said the voting process was also peaceful at his polling unit, urging the process to remain orderly as voting continued across the state.
The election is being conducted across Osun’s 30 local government areas, with 15 candidates contesting the governorship seat.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) had been collected ahead of the election.
Mohammed Haruna, chairman of INEC’s information and voter education committee, said in a statement on Friday that the figure represents 81.5 percent of the 2,339,233 registered voters in the state.
