Tinubu formally presents Shettima with running mate certificate
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially presented Vice President Kashim Shettima with his certificate as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election, days after the All Progressives Congress confirmed the vice president on the party’s ticket.
The presentation was revealed in a video shared on Thursday by the President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Olusegun Dada.
The video showed Shettima arriving at the venue, where he briefly exchanged words with Tinubu before the President handed him the certificate confirming his nomination as vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
Sharing the clip, Dada wrote, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presents certificate to Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate in 2027 election.”
Responding to a social media user who asked, “Didn’t some people say Shettima has been relegated?” Dada dismissed the speculation, saying, “At no point was the Vice President’s place in this administration under any doubt. People just create scenarios in their head and start cooking.”
The presentation comes after the APC on July 10 formally confirmed Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 presidential election, ending months of speculation about whether the President would retain him on the ticket.
The ruling party also expressed confidence that the Tinubu-Shettima ticket would secure re-election as it formally received its nomination forms for onward submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of the deadline.
