Reactions have trailed the disclosure by the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, that Nigerian soldiers now earn a minimum monthly salary of N100,000.
Veterans and serving personnel described the amount as grossly inadequate.
This is as they accused President Bola Tinubu of failing to implement a salary increment he promised nearly four months ago.

Soldiers intercept foreign courier carrying drugs to terrorists in Borno
Troops of Sector 3, Joint Task Force North East (Operation HADIN KAI) arrested a Chadian national, Mrs Rachael Samuel (48), on July 9 while she allegedly transported a large consignment of illicit drugs, alcoholic beverages, and other prohibited substances destined for terrorists in the Lake Chad Islands.
Recovered items included about 30kg of cannabis sativa, containers of “Suck and Die,” cartons of dry gin and herbal alcohol, among others.

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday declined assent to two bills passed by the National Assembly, citing constitutional concerns and defects that require correction before the proposed legislation can become law.
The Senate was notified of the President’s decision through two separate letters read on the floor of the chamber by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
