Kidnappings: Oyo CAN directs churches to suspend late-night programmes

Amid rising concerns over insecurity and the increasing wave of kidnappings, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Oyo State has instructed churches across the state to suspend all late-night church activities.

The association said the directive was issued as a precautionary measure to safeguard worshippers following recent incidents of abductions targeting residents in parts of the state.

CAN urged church leaders to review the timing of vigils, prayer meetings and other late-evening programmes, stressing that the safety of members should remain a top priority while efforts continue to address the security challenges.

The association also called on security agencies to intensify operations aimed at tackling criminal activities and restoring confidence among residents. It encouraged Christians to remain vigilant, cooperate with security operatives and continue praying for lasting peace and improved security in the state.
