LAGOS — The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary closure of the Iddo Bridge in the Ijora area of Apapa Local Government to enable the Federal Ministry of Works carry out the installation of heavy steel beams as part of the ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction of the bridge.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed the development on Tuesday, appealing to motorists and road users to cooperate with traffic management officials and exercise patience during the period of the closure.
According to Osiyemi, the installation exercise will take place between June 17 and June 21, 2026, at designated times.
“The operation is scheduled for June 17, 2026, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., and on June 21, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.,” he stated.
He explained that vehicular movement across the entire Iddo Bridge will be suspended during the specified periods to ensure the safe installation of the steel beams.
Osiyemi noted that the temporary closure forms part of the traffic management arrangements designed to support the ongoing bridge rehabilitation project being executed by the Federal Ministry of Works through the Office of the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos.
He urged road users to comply with traffic directives and make use of alternative routes where necessary while the work is being carried out.
