The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board has discovered
3,000 fraudulent graduates who never attended any educational institution.
The board has also expressed concern over the issue of unauthorized admissions by certain institutions,
which it described as a national disgrace. The Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede,
revealed this information in a report published in the board's bulletin,
which was acquired by our correspondent in Abuja.
uring a meeting with the leadership of the Committee of Pro-Chancellors of State Universities,
Oloyede highlighted that some individuals falsely claimed to have graduated from universities despite
never setting foot on campus due to widespread corruption in the education system.
The bulletin emphasized that the illegal admission of candidates into tertiary
institutions is detrimental to the nation.
JAMB has consistently prioritized addressing the problem of
illegal admissions. In December 2023, the House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education instructed
JAMB to provide a list of institutions that engaged in irregular and unauthorized admissions.
JAMB had previously cautioned candidates against accepting admissions from such institutions without proper
academic involvement. In a statement titled "Cessation of illegal/irregular admission,"
JAMB reiterated that all applications for
admissions to various programs must adhere to the prescribed guidelines..
