Ebenezer Smith, a Ghanaian chef popularly known as Millennium Chef Smith,
recently confessed that he does not deserve to continue living following his
disgraceful act of forging a Guinness World Record in a cooking marathon.
This revelation was made during an interview with GHOne TV on Sunday. Smith was
apprehended and held at the La Police Station for falsifying
a Guinness World Record for a cooking marathon.
At a press conference last Tuesday,
Smith presented a certificate claiming to have
set a new world record for an 820-hour 25-minute
cook-a-thon that took place from February 1 to March 6, 2024.
However, the Public Relations Executive for GWR, Alina Polianskaya,
verified to the BBC that the certificate was indeed counterfeit. Polianskaya clarified, “No,
this is completely false. He does not possess the GWR title, and that certificate is not ours.
The current and legitimate record holder is Alan Fisher (Ireland) for the longest cooking marathon
(individual) lasting 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds,
achieved in Matsue, Shimane, Japan, from September 28 to October 3, 2023.”
In the interview, Smith expressed deep regret and disappointment in himself for his actions,
acknowledging the letdown he caused to the people of Ghana, his family, and the global community.
