CNG is 40% more affordable than petrol, and NNPC plans to establish 100 stations.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited revealed that the use of Compressed Natural Gas in vehicles is 40% more cost-effective than using Premium Motor Spirit, commonly known as petrol. The company also disclosed plans to have 100 operational CNG stations nationwide within a year, with 11 stations already inaugurated in Abuja and Lagos.
Huub Stokman, the Managing Director of NNPC Retail Limited, emphasized that the introduction of CNG stations is a significant move towards diversifying Nigeria's energy sources and providing a cheaper alternative to traditional fuel products.
Stokman also mentioned that NNPC Retail aims to establish over 100 CNG sites in the next 12 months and is collaborating with partners to set up training and conversion centers in Abuja and Lagos.
